Infants do so much more than eat, sleep, and play. Each passing day occurs an awe-inspiring process of development through which our infants make sense of and learn how to interact with the world around them. 

At the youngest stage of development, infants begin to observe their environment. Babies enjoy being held, cuddled and nurtured by our loving staff. Our infants are rotated between a number of stimulating activities throughout the day that are catered towards their own developmental progress.

The next stage of development includes patterns of eating, being alert and sleeping which are clearly regulated. Our babies are introduced to new foods, sitting up, recognizing their name, crawling and pulling up, and exploring their environment. Toddlers are aware of themselves and how others perceive them. Many exciting developmental milestones occur in our toddler classrooms. They are reading picture books, drawing, painting, climbing, jumping, and exploring everything around them. We believe that a toddler’s environment should offer age-related appropriate activities and the opportunity to interact and play alone or in small groups. By allowing our children to learn in small groups, it gives them the opportunity to get more one-on-one attention. During the toddler years, children make steady gains in all areas of development. They are struggling with their feelings of independence versus dependence. They want to do everything by themselves, yet they also realize that they need love and attention to accomplish these goals.

The New Bairn School offers a program to meet the busy life-style of your toddler. We offer a variety of techniques to help your child move toward independence, problem solving, understanding abstract concepts, and sharing with other children. We focus on appropriate developmental outcomes that are based on your child’s individual needs. Reading, sorting, counting, and identifying shapes are a primary objective for improving your child’s language skills and are all covered in-depth

At this age, your child is learning at a rapid rate as they grow and develop. Our teachers are incorporating Scholastic workbooks and themed magazines to target your child’s academic development. Each classroom has a monthly lesson plan that can be found on Brightwheel! 

We reinforce the understanding of basic fundamentals of learning such as, letters, numbers, colors and shapes. Lesson plans include language development, learning the alphabet, recognizing numbers and learning to count.

Our Teachers intentionally create environments and provide appropriate learning materials to allow your child to explore and learn on their own, as well as provide support in learning new skills. In our Two's and Three's, you will see several different learning centers such as art, science, dramatic play, library, blocks, puzzles and more.
